How does smoking affect the eyes?
As is widely broadcasted, smoking damages multiple organs in the body. It contributes to lung disease, heart disease, high cholesterol and diabetes. Not only that, but smoking can also speed up damage to the eyes caused by these general health conditions, such as diabetic retinopathy or thyroid eye disease. Smoking is also directly connected to causing dry eyes, cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration and retinal artery and vein occlusions.
