Why do people get dry or watery eyes?
Our tears are made up of three layers – yes, it’s true! A problem with any of these layers can cause the eyes to dry or tears to run. Classic symptoms are grittiness, itchiness, burning, and/or watering.
What are the treatment options?
Artificial tears can be used to relieve the discomfort, and warm compresses are always helpful. Occasionally, a minor treatment can be performed for either dry or watery eyes, but this is generally only advised if the problem is severe.
Dry or watery eyes may sound trivial but can be quite disconcerting. Always consult your eye care practitioner for advice on dealing with dry or watery eyes before they become a bigger issue.
